We had the opportunity to visit New York City around Christmas to drop off a puppy for a customer who wanted a Goldendoodle puppy, but did not have the time to learn how to train one on their own. We flew into LGA and our hotel was at the Hyatt House near Herald Square. This was a perfect central location for our trip. We could easily visit all of the sites, Time Square, Central Park and all the other places that people love to visit on a trip to New York City. Locals probably get annoyed by it, but for a quick weekend trip it was pretty amazing. The first few weeks after taking a puppy home are a big adjustment for the puppy. They have been around their mom, littermates and other dogs every day of their life. Then they leave the family they have known and are in an unfamiliar area. That means those first few nights they will likely be crying in the crate, which might not make the neighbors too happy. What we do is to provide a slower transition to the full independence. We move them to their own crate, but between some of our own dogs. Then we move them further across the room.
